1. Tories 'give Theresa May 10 days to shape up’

Tories have given Theresa May 10 days to save her premiership, claims The Sunday Times. The paper claims the PM has been ordered to "shape up" and show she is fit to lead. The Sunday Telegraph says May will face a stalking horse challenge to "topple her" if she waters down Brexit. The conspiracy has been compared to Sir Anthony Meyer’s 1989 challenge against Margaret Thatcher.

2. Charities warn debt bubble approaching 2008 levels

Charities and financial advisers have joined forces to urge the government to address a growing "bubble" of unmanageable household debt. After it was revealed that inflation reached a four-year high in May, experts say that unsecured consumer credit – which includes credit cards and car loans – is this year expected to hit levels not seen since the 2008 financial crash.

3. Council leader promises answers over Grenfell disasters

Questions over the Grenfell Tower disaster "will be answered", says the leader of Kensington and Chelsea council. Meanwhile, Theresa May has admitted that the support given to families in the immediate aftermath "was not good enough". However, the Liberal Democrats said: "Theresa May is acting like a hopeless by-stander rather than Prime Minister. We are several days on, and her belated act of contrition is not enough."

4. Missing US sailors found after Japan collision

Sailors missing after the USS Fitzgerald collided with a container ship off Japan have been found dead, says the US navy. Seven sailors were left missing and three injured after Saturday's accident, which happened 56 nautical miles (104km) south-west of the Japanese port city of Yokosuka. "This loss is something we all feel," said a navy spokesman.

5. Huge forest fire kills 25 people in Portugal

A massive forest fire in Portugal killed at least 25 people and injured 20 others. The government said most of those who perished burned to death in their cars. Hundreds of firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze, which broke out yesterday afternoon in Pedrogao Grande. "Unfortunately this seems to be the greatest tragedy we have seen in recent years in terms of forest fires," said PM Antonio Costa.

6. Business leaders tell Theresa May to rethink Brexit

Top business figures are piling pressure on Theresa May to opt for a softer Brexit, reports The Observer. As warnings grow over the impact of immigration controls and leaving the single market, Stuart Rose, the Tory peer and chairman of online grocer Ocado, Karan Bilimoria, the founder of Cobra beer, and Brian McBride, chairman of ASOS and Wiggle, have encouraged the PM to rethink.

7. 'Cowardly' bomb attack rocks Colombia mall

A bomb explosion hit one of the busiest shopping centers in Colombia’s capital yesterday, killing three people and injuring nine others, according to authorities. Mayor Enrique Peñalosa of Bogotá described the incident at the upscale Centro Andino shopping centre as a "cowardly terrorist bombing". Authorities suspect the country’s largest rebel group, the National Liberation Army, is responsible.

8. UK heatwave to rage on in the coming days

Britain enjoyed the hottest day of the year so far yesterday and temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days. Sky News says mercury peaked at 30.2C (86.36F) in Teddington. Met Office forecaster Charles Powell said: "Sunday and Monday will see repeat performances of Saturday, with a lot of England and Wales seeing dry, sunny, warm, humid weather with high UV, high pollen."

9. Bill Cosby could face retrial after jury fail to decide

Comedian Bill Cosby could face new proceedings after a US judge declared a mistrial in his assault case. Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand. The jury were unable to reach a unanimous decision after some 53 hours of deliberations in Pennsylvania. Cosby's lawyer said: "Like that Rolling Stone song says 'you don't always get what you want'. Sometimes you get what you need."

10. Beyonce has given birth to twins claim reports

Beyonce has given birth to twins in Los Angeles, according to reports in the US. The singer and rapper Jay Z already have a five-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. An unidentified source told People magazine that Beyonce gave birth earlier this week, adding: "Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends."
