Audi Q4 E-tron Concept 2020: Geneva Motor Show reveal, prices, specs and release date

Audi has confirmed a new addition to its all-electric E-tron line-up will be on display at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Previewed in a set of design sketches, the Q4 E-tron Concept will take the form of a compact SUV. It is expected to be built on the new electric-only MEB production platform developed by the German carmaker’s parent company Volkswagen, says Auto Express.

Judging by the trio of images, the Q4 E-tron Concept will adopt a “cab-forward design”, meaning the length of the bonnet has been kept to a minimum to maximise interior space, the magazine says.

At the front, Autocar says the SUV has an “expansive” grille with an illuminated E-tron logo beneath it, a similar design to the E-tron GT Concept that appeared at the Detroit Auto Show last month.

Moving towards the rear, there is a coupe-esque roofline that slopes downwards into a narrow rear window, the motoring mag says.

On the inside, the concept boasts a futuristic version of the tech-filled cabins that appear in the current crop of Audi production cars.

For instance, the centre console is dominated by a large touchscreen infotainment system, while a compact digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel.

However, the proportions and cabin styling of the car in the sketches are somewhat unrealistic, so the concept may look slightly different when it appears in the metal at the Geneva show, which runs from 7 to 17 March.

When will it come out?

Audi has confirmed that the Q4 E-tron will go into production either at the end of next year or in early 2021.

How much will it cost?

There’s no word on how much a Q4 E-tron is likely to cost. Given that Audi’s new all-electric SUV - simply called the E-tron - starts at £71,490, expect the compact Q4 e-tron to come with a slightly cheaper price tag.

What battery options will it come with?

According to CarBuyer, the production-version of the Q4 E-tron will be offered with 48kWh, 60kWh and 80kWh battery packs.

Though details of the battery units have yet to be revealed, the reviews site claims the smallest option should deliver at least 200 miles on a single charge. This should rise to 300 miles on range-topping models.
