The Game Awards 2017: Death Stranding trailer leaves fans baffled
PlayStation exclusive is set in mysterious post-apocalyptic world
A new trailer for the upcoming Death Stranding video game screened at The Game Awards last night has left fans amazed - and confused.
The eight-minute-long teaser for the PlayStation exclusive, created by Hideo Kojima - the brains behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise - offers a glimpse of the game’s dark post-apocalyptic setting.
Featuring a digital version of The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, the trailer follows a group of people after their transport vehicle crashes.

But it swiftly goes from the obscure to the downright baffling, as some characters are dragged away by invisible monsters before a gigantic creature emerges from the ground.
As in an earlier trailer for the game that appeared at last year’s E3 games show, Reedus’s character is then seen fighting to protect a baby, before the screen turns to black.
The trailer ends with his character passed out on the floor, followed by the camera panning into his mouth - and revealing that the baby is being kept inside of him.
Fans took to Twitter to express their excitement - and confusion - over the teaser, with many calling for more information from the legendary Japanese game designer.
Others tried to piece together the story, after Kojima revealed there are clues in the two trailers that may hint at the game’s plot.
The baby’s role in the game was a major talking point.
A “solid release date” has not yet been announced for Death Stranding, launching exclusively on the PS4, CNet says. More details are expected in the new year.
