England’s Lionesses won their first major international trophy with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Germany on 31 July. In the final at Wembley Stadium, substitute Ella Toone scored a stunning chip to give the host nation the lead after 62 minutes. However, eight-time European champions Germany drew level and forced extra-time through Lina Magull’s equaliser. Chloe Kelly’s 110th-minute winner sent the England fans crazy and the Lionesses held on to lift the trophy.
