The Boston Red Sox on Monday signed free agent infielders Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval to long-term deals, giving the team the top two bats on the open market this offseason. Sandoval's deal is for a reported five years and $100 million, while Ramirez's is reportedly $88 million spread over four years.
The moves give the Red Sox a surplus of position players, suggesting they will aggressively seek to flip someone to upgrade a thin pitching rotation.
