Jose Luis Abarca, the mayor of Iguala, the Mexican city from which 43 students disappeared, was arrested in Mexico City on Tuesday.

Abarca and his wife, Maria de los Angeles Pineda, were taken into police custody and detained for questioning. The pair is allegedly linked to the disappearance of the 43 student teachers who were reportedly planning to protest a speech Pineda delivered on Sept. 26. Abarca became the target of a manhunt after taking a "leave of absence" in September and disappearing after the students went missing.
