The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has borrowed $10 million, the Associated Press reports, in an intensified effort to fend off Republican challengers and hold on to the party's majority.
"Committee loans are commonplace during campaigns' final weeks," AP explains. "Strategists in both parties prefer to have cash at the ready rather than scrambling for last-minute spending."
Democrats are defending seats across the map, including in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, North Carolina, and still more, while also waging uphill attempts to win Republican-held seats in Georgia and Kentucky that might offset expected losses elsewhere.
