Americana star Ryan Adams is pulling out all the stops to promote his eponymous 14th album, released Tuesday. In this case, that includes recruiting a handful of comic actors and musicians to create some bizarre, campy videos. The first short, "Parakeet," features Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm) complaining to Adams' manager, played by Garry Shandling, about Adams' album killing his pet bird. The follow-up, "Zombie," has Garlin warning about another dreadful side-effect of listening to Ryan Adams.

The most serious acting in these shorts is actually musician/producer Don Was (Was Not Was), who portrays some sort of creepy music industry executive. If these entertainingly strange videos pique your curiosity, you can stream the album at NPR. It probably won't turn you into the walking dead. --Peter Weber
