American Atheists invited, then uninvited to CPAC

Just hours after the American Atheists made headlines for becoming the first atheist group to participate in the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, their invitation was revoked, Politico reports. The nonprofit, which protects the civil rights of atheists, had originally been invited to sponsor an information booth at CPAC, but their invitation was rescinded after American Atheists president David Silverman said in an announcement that the Christian right "should be angry that we are going to enlighten conservatives."

When asked about the change of heart, CPAC spokesperson Meghan Snyder told Politico that American Atheists "misrepresented itself about [its] willingness to engage in positive dialogue and work together to promote limited government."
