President Obama will not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the latter travels to Washington in March to address Congress.

In announcing the decision, the White House said it did not want to interfere with the upcoming Israeli election, which will be held shortly after Netanyahu's trip. Without consulting the White House, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Wednesday invited Netanyahu to address Congress about Iran, a direct rebuke of the administration's ongoing nuclear negotiations with Tehran.
