Mary Cheney says she's 'Darth Vader's daughter'

While at American University on Wednesday, Mary Cheney joked about her family lineage, saying, "I'm Darth Vader's daughter."

In fact, Cheney said, her son has a figurine of the Star Wars character in his room as an homage to his grandfather's nickname. Of course, her father is former Vice President Dick Cheney, and the 45-year-old wasn't on campus to discuss her true paternity, but rather the Republican Party's approach to same-sex marriage.

Cheney said she thinks that by 2028 at the latest the party will support same-sex marriage. When asked which potential 2016 presidential candidate would be the best bet for promoting marriage equality, she had a quick answer: "It won't be Ted Cruz."
