On March 1, China will ban internet accounts that impersonate people or organizations. The country will enforce a requirement that people use their real names when creating online accounts.
The ban will primarily affect parody accounts for government organizations and foreign leaders. China has increased its attempts to control the country's internet ever since President Xi Jinping came into power in 2013. China expects its internet providers will enforce the impersonation rules.
