House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Sunday said he would allow funding for the Department of Homeland Security to lapse if the Senate can't approve the spending bill passed by the House.
"Certainly," he said when Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked if he was prepared to let the funding expire at the end of the month. "The House has acted. We've done our job."
The House passed a bill to fund DHS beyond February, but with strings attached to scuttle President Obama's immigration order. Senate Democrats have filibustered the bill in the upper chamber because they oppose the amendments blocking funding for Obama's plan. —Jon Terbush
