Snowy New York town's visitor's website tells tourists to go to Florida instead
Ithaca, New York, has officially given up on winter.
VisitIthaca.com's home page urged tourists to visit Florida instead of trekking to upstate New York. The top of the page read, "That's it. We surrender. Winter, you win. Key West anyone?"
The Ithaca website's home page featured photos advertising sunny Florida vacations, urging tourists to visit the Florida Keys this week and return to New York "when things thaw out." The site went as far as to say that Ithaca is "for the birds" this time of year.

Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick told BuzzFeed that the website's suggestion is "a good way to make lemonade out of frozen lemons." Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Rick Scott got in on the joke, tweeting a photo of Florida postcards and urging Ithaca residents to visit Florida.
Ithaca saw weather in the teens on Monday, and temperatures reached 28 degrees below zero in the Adirondacks early Tuesday.
