A Canadian woman vacationing in Mexico died after a gray whale crashed down onto the boat she was on, authorities said Wednesday.

The 35-year-old was on the water about a mile away from Cabo San Lucas when the incident took place, USA Today reports. Firefighter commander Juan Carvajal Figueroa said the woman, whose name has not been released, was with other tourists when a whale jumped from the water and landed on the boat. She was moved to shore by navy personnel and taken to a clinic, where she died from her injuries.
