On Wednesday, a team of Serbian and Bosnian prosecutors announced the arrest of seven men for alleged involvement in the brutal 1995 Srebrenica massacre of more than 1,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys at a warehouse just outside the Bosnian town. "It is important to stress that this is the first time that our prosecutor's office is dealing with the mass killings of civilians and war prisoners in Srebrenica," lead Serb prosecutor Bruno Vekaric told The Associated Press.
The most high-profile of the arrests was of Nedeljko Milidragovic, or "Nedjo the Butcher," who led the massacre and later aunched a successful trucking business after the war, allegedly using money he stole from victims' pockets. The Bosnian and Serb prosecutors are working together with support from the United Nations war crimes tribunal. It is, AP says, "the most important case of judicial teamwork helping to heal the festering wounds of the war."
