Turn on almost any rock radio station these days and there's a solid chance you'll hear a Nirvana song before too long. Maybe it's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", maybe it's "Heart-Shaped Box" — the '90s grunge band's gravelly sound is a staple. But no matter which of Nirvana's many hits comes on, there's at least one person who will probably change the station: lead singer Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Nirvana frontman's 22-year-old daughter said she's not a big fan of her dad's legendary band. "I don't really like Nirvana that much," she told the magazine. "I'm more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre. The grunge scene is not what I'm interested in."
Frances Bean — whose mother is musician Courtney Love — is the subject of Rolling Stone's latest cover story. In it, she discusses Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the upcoming documentary about her famous father's life (she is serving as its executive producer). She also touches on her fraught relationship with her mother and hanging out with the remaining Nirvana bandmates. The issue hits newsstands this Friday — read more at Rolling Stone.
