The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday approved by a 19-0 vote a bill that would grant Congress the authority to vote on any final nuclear deal with Iran.
Though President Obama strongly opposed lawmakers' initial attempts to elbow their way into the negotiations, the White House said earlier in the day Obama would sign the bill after it was revised to address some of the administration's concerns. The compromise bill would shorten the legislature's review period of a final deal and weaken language regarding sanctions on Iran, though it would still allow Congress to vote on whether to lift those sanctions.
