Protesters rally for Freddie Gray in Philadelphia, 2 arrested
In Philadelphia, protesters calling for justice in the Freddie Gray case marched through the streets of Center City Philadelphia on Thursday in a demonstration that began in the afternoon.
Organizers say the "Philly is Baltimore" protest is also trying to bring attention to problems in Philadelphia. As hundreds of demonstrators made their way peacefully through the streets, they blocked traffic and shouted "no justice, no peace" and "no racist police." They were joined by several clergymen who were on hand to promote peace and non-violent protest.
Shortly before 8 p.m., protesters were held back by police as they attempted to get onto the Vine Street Expressway, and at least two people were arrested, ABC Philadelphia reports. Witnesses say that for several minutes, there was pushing and shoving between the two sides, and one person was injured.
