Exit polls: Conservatives ahead in U.K election

Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative Party appeared poised to claim the most parliamentary seats as polls closed Thursday evening on Britain's national election, according to early exit polls. However, preliminary results suggested no party would emerge with an outright majority, meaning the winner would have to cobble together a coalition government. Of the 650 seats up for grabs, Conservatives stood to nab 316, while Ed Miliband's Labour Party was projected to pick up 239, according to the BBC's exit polling.
