CSI has finally gotten the axe.
On Sept. 27, the iconic crime drama will cap its 15th season with a two-hour "historic series finale" featuring original cast members William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger. CBS entertainment chair Nina Tassler told CNN that CBS executives were "a little misty-eyed" about the drama's cancellation, which the network is trying to position as a "retirement."
Though its reputation as a ratings powerhouse has faded in recent years, CSI still has a solid viewership — one that will be encouraged to make the switch to spinoff CSI:Cyber along with current CSI star Ted Danson, who will star in that show when it takes over CSI's old time slot on Sunday nights.
