The first Republican prime-time debate started with a bang, with Fox News moderator Bret Baier asking the 10 candidates if they would all pledge to refuse to run as an independent candidate in the 2016 race.

The lone holdout? Donald Trump, who said he wanted to be the Republican nominee for president, but would not rule out a third-party run, the prospect of which has given the GOP the jitters. His response was met with a chorus of boos.
