Watch Jon Stewart use a folding chair to help Seth Rollins beat John Cena at WWE SummerSlam
If you've recently found yourself thinking, "Hey, I wonder whatever happened to Jon Stewart," he was in Brooklyn on Sunday, hosting the WWE SummerSlam. Well, more than hosting: He sort of tipped the title match in favor of Seth Rollins, with a well-placed folding chair aimed at John Cena:
Thanks to Stewart's help — the referee was mysteriously knocked down and didn't see his intervention — Rollins took Cena's WWE United States Championship belt to add to his World Heavyweight Championship belt. More importantly, perhaps, Stewart made himself part of the story. Kevin McCauley at SB Nation has the play-by-play and the backstory, such as it is:
OUT OF NOWHERE, JON STEWART HAS A DANG CHAIR! Everyone assumed he'd run in to beat up Rollins, whom he recently feuded with, but instead Stewart attacked Cena and put down a chair for Rollins to Pedigree Cena onto. The referee didn't see any of that, but recovered in time to count to three, making Rollins a double-champ. [SB Nation]
Not bad for a man who just retired from The Daily Show two weeks ago.
