Planning to buy Star Wars tickets tonight? You might have some competition.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is getting a new trailer on Monday night, which will air during the NFL game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. As with anything remotely involving the forthcoming installment of the Star Wars franchise, this news has garnered some excitement and hysteria:
That being said, there's another reason for fans to be pumped about tonight's trailer: After it goes live, Disney announced that U.S. tickets will go on sale — even though the film, due out December 18, won't open for another eight weeks.
If the U.K.'s presale on Monday is any indicator, you might have some competition for those opening night tickets. Vue, the U.K.'s third-largest theater chain, sold 10,000 Star Wars tickets in just an hour and a half — by comparison, it normally takes several weeks to sell that amount. The websites for Odeon and Picturehouse, too, reported having "some issues," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Fans were, of course, infuriated:

While it sounds rough out there, you can expect there won't be a whole lot of people waiting to catch The Force Awakens when it comes out on DVD. Do a couple thumb stretches and get ready for some refreshing — it could be a long night.
