Is Ben Carson the new frontrunner in the Republican presidential race? A New York Times/CBS News survey released Tuesday shows the retired neurosurgeon taking a narrow lead nationally, beating former poll leader Donald Trump 26 percent to 22 percent. While that lead lies within the poll's margin of error, The New York Times notes that this is the first time that Trump hasn't led the field in months.
While Carson and Trump are basically neck and neck, the other candidates lag far behind. Marco Rubio came in third with 8 percent, Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina had 7 percent, and Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and John Kasich each got 4 percent.
The poll's margin of error is ± 6 percentage points.
