Amazon and Walmart are selling an Israeli soldier costume for kids this Halloween

There's another questionable Halloween costume to add to the list this season: an Israeli soldier costume for kids. Both Walmart and Amazon are selling child-sized uniforms featuring olive-green pants, a jacket with Hebrew writing, and a red beret. Though the toy gun the boy is holding in the image below is not included with the uniform, it can be purchased separately to complete the look.
Unsurprisingly, the costume has sparked some controversy. "Walmart is promoting occupation and the killing of innocent children this Halloween," Alternet.org writer Max Blumenthal wrote on Twitter. Amazon reviewers panned the costume as "propaganda" and gave it only one star, calling it "disgusting."
In the last week, there has been a notable uptick in attacks in Israel. On Monday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas asked the European Union for help in de-escalating the violence.
