Did Ted Cruz reveal classified information at Tuesday's GOP debate?

The chairman of the Senate's Intelligence Committee is looking into the possibility that Sen. Ted Cruz revealed classified information during Tuesday night's Republican debate, The Hill reports.

Cruz was arguing with Sen. Marco Rubio when he said that the old National Security Agency surveillance program covered "20 or 30 percent of phone numbers" while the new program covered nearly 100 percent.

"I don't think national television in front of 15 million people is the place to discuss classified information," Rubio replied.

Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told reporters afterward, "I'm having my staff look at the transcripts of the debate right now. Any time you deal with numbers... the question is, 'Is that classified or not?' Or is there an open source reference to it."
