It's clear that if the whole being president thing doesn't pan out, Donald Trump could run for anything in Richmond County and win.
With 85 percent of precincts in the county reporting, Trump has 82 percent of the vote; John Kasich is an extremely distant second with 10 percent, followed by Ted Cruz with 8 percent. On Saturday, Trump received a warm welcome while campaigning in the borough, calling it a "great place" and recalling the summers he spent working there on a development built by his father.
More than 1,000 people came out to hear him speak at the Richmond County (Staten Island) GOP's annual Lincoln Day brunch, triple the number that usually attend, NBC News reports. "Mr. Trump has a wide following, we could have sold twice as many tickets as we did," the group's chairman, John Antoniello, said. "These are his people. Staten Island is a real base of support for him."
