Cartoon Donald Trump shows his true colors to Stephen Colbert
Donald Trump's top aides have been trying to convince GOP leaders that Trump has just been playing the part of a populist demagogue, and that he is really quite presidential behind closed doors. Or as Stephen Colbert put it on Tuesday's Late Show, "he's just pretending to be an offensive loose cannon, just like the GOP will soon be pretending that they're happy he's the nominee." To get a sense of whether Trump is really just putting on an act or is actually "a cartoonish egomaniac," Colbert had a conversation with Cartoon Donald Trump.
After a bit of back-and-forth with the regular Cartoon Trump, the Cartoon Donald suddenly transformed into a latter-day Thurston Howell III, the consummate blue-blood with a vaguely British accent. Colbert expressed shock. "But wait, you've been acting like this for years." "It's the long con, Stephen," the debonair Cartoon Trump explained.
