The mayor of Nice said the truck driver "appears to have killed dozens of people," BBC News reports, and local media says the incident took place on the Promenade des Anglais during a fireworks show. Police are calling this an "attack" and are asking people in the area to shelter in place. Some witnesses said they heard gunshots exchanged between police and the occupants of the truck.
