On Tuesday morning, German police arrested three Syrian nationals believed to be on a mission for the Islamic State. The men, in their late teens and early 20s, were allegedly sent to Germany by ISIS in November 2015 to either carry out "a previously determined order [from ISIS] or to await further instructions," prosecutors said in a statement.
The men are being investigated "in connection with" the deadly terror attacks in Paris last November, CNN reported. Their forged documents indicate they may have been smuggled in by the same organization that brought the Paris attackers into Europe. Along with passports given to them by ISIS, the men were reportedly given thousands of U.S. dollars in cash and phones with a communication app already installed.
The men had reportedly been under surveillance "for weeks," BBC reported, and were arrested Tuesday when six locations were raided by 200 officers.
