This past February, Donald Trump blasted 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for not releasing his tax returns until late September — less than two months before election day — and for only doing so after being criticized by Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.):
This is now awkward for Trump for a handful of reasons:
- Romney actually released his 2010 tax return in January 2012; only his 2011 return wasn't released until September
- Trump, Romney's successor as the GOP's nominee, has not yet released his own tax returns
