Donald Trump Jr. just published a series of damning emails about his meeting with a Russian lawyer
Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday released his "entire email chain" with publicist Rob Goldstone regarding the meeting he had with a Kremlin-linked Russian lawyer in June 2016. In the email exchanges, Goldstone explicitly details the existence of "official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary [Clinton] and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful" to President Trump. "This is obviously very high-level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump," Goldstone wrote.
"If it's what you say I love it," Trump Jr. responded. Trump Jr. said he released the emails "to be totally transparent" and reiterated that he gleaned "no information" from this meeting that took place "before the current Russian fever was in vogue."
Trump Jr. released the emails just before The New York Times was set to publish them. CNN's Brian Stelter reported that Trump Jr. had requested "'more time' to comment" and then "'pre-empted'" the Times.
