Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop (D) doesn't leave the comfort of his beach chair once during his new TV ad trolling New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R). "They used to say politics in New Jersey is no day at the beach — until it was," Fulop says, as a photo of a baseball cap-clad Christie sunning himself at a beach he'd ordered closed down during a budget crisis flashes across the screen.
To "show you what we're getting done in Jersey City," Fulop sits in his beach chair surrounded by watermelons as he boasts of newly added farmers' markets in every neighborhood; he gets nailed by a soccer ball in his chair as he highlights new parks and playgrounds; and he gets carried in his chair by a couple of police officers as he notes the newest 250 members of the force.
