An Algerian military plane with more than 100 people on board crashed near Boufarik military base in northern Algeria on Wednesday. "There are more than 100 deaths," Mohammed Achour, chief spokesman for the civil protection agency, told The Associated Press. "We can't say exact how many at this point." Other local news outlets are reporting that more than 200 people could be dead. Achour said the plane was carrying soldiers. The Soviet-designed Il-76 military transport plane was headed from Boufarik, about 20 miles from the capital, Algiers, to Bechar in southwestern Algeria.
