Trump retweets a meme suggesting Rod Rosenstein should be jailed for treason
Remember when President Trump said he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein get along "very well?" Now, Trump wants him locked up.
At least, that's the impression Trump gave on Wednesday morning when he retweeted a meme suggesting Rosenstein should be convicted for treason. The image depicts a variety of Trump enemies in a jail cell, with text reading, "Now that Russia collusion is a proven lie, when do the trials for treason begin?" Special Counsel Robert Mueller, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former President Barack Obama are featured, but so is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who Trump appointed in 2017 and who is still serving in the administration.
After a report that Rosenstein had once suggested invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, it was widely speculated that Trump would fire Rosenstein, but he did not end up doing so after he said they had a "great" conversation. Since then, Trump appointed a new acting attorney general to oversee Mueller's Russia investigation, which he appears to be growing increasingly irate about, tweeting Wednesday, "This is our Joseph McCarthy Era!"
