Step aside, Uncle Sam. Move over, Lady Liberty. There's a new recruiter inspiring bright-eyed young Americans to join the military, and his name is Donald J. Trump.
Not even a day has passed since his Fourth of July "Salute to America" event, but President Trump is already positive that all branches of the armed forces will soon see a swell in ranks. "Gonna have a lot of people being recruited, I think, based on that," he told reporters Friday morning. "We're gonna have a lot of people joining our military and we really needed that."
Trump said because job numbers have been so good, "our military has a hard time getting people, and I think really you're gonna see a big spike, I've already heard it, a lot of people calling in. No place like our military, and I think we showed that last night." Ever since Trump witnessed, in awe, France's 2017 Bastille Day parade, complete with airplanes and marching soldiers and horses, he's been wanting his very own, but he told reporters that really, the event was "a recruitment situation — a lot of people are gonna be joining our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines."
