Nikki Haley rolls her eyes at Trump's tweet mocking Elijah Cummings' home burglary
President Trump's tweet appearing to mock Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) over a break-in at his home just got called out by former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Following reports of a break-in at Cummings' Baltimore home, Trump on Friday morning tweeted what seemed to be a sarcastic response, writing, "too bad!" Trump has in recent days been attacking Cummings and his district in Baltimore. Cummings says an intruder tried to break through his front door but that he scared him away; this occurred hours before Trump's tweet last weekend attacking Cummings.
Trump's tweet prompted a response from Haley, who served in the Trump administration as U.N. ambassador until 2018. "This is so unnecessary," she wrote, adding the eye-roll emoji.

Haley had previously offered something of a defense of Trump amid his attacks on Cummings, which were criticized as racist; in a tweet on Tuesday, she decried "all of this back and forth about who everyone thinks is racist and whose not."
Haley has widely been seen as a likely future presidential candidate, although she said upon leaving the Trump administration in 2018 that she would not run against Trump in 2020, The Hill reports. "I look forward to supporting the president in the next election," she said.
