'Texas is not in play,' Trump claims at his campaign rally in Texas

President Trump isn't worried about the changing demographics in Texas and Democratic efforts to register new voters, he told the crowd at his Dallas rally Thursday night.
"Texas is not in play," he said, adding, "Democrats will never get the chance [to be president] because Texas won't let them." A Republican stronghold for the last few decades, Texas will be critical in 2020; while Trump won the state in 2016 by 9 percentage points, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) won re-election by less than 3 points last year.
The Texas Democratic Party in September shared its 2020 strategy, which includes registering 2.6 million potential Democratic voters by the next presidential election. Additionally, census estimates released in June show that Hispanics are expected to soon become the largest population group in Texas, and it could happen as early as 2022.
