Adam Sandler is thrilled he can 'stop wearing suits' now that he's been snubbed at the Oscars

Adam Sandler is taking a glass-half-full sort of approach to getting left out in the cold at the Oscars.

The actor reacted Monday to not receiving a nomination for Best Actor at the 92nd Academy Awards for Uncut Gems. His performance in the film was hailed by critics, leading some to speculate he could score his very first Oscar nod. He ultimately fell short amid one of the most competitive Best Actor races in recent memory, and Uncut Gems was completely shut out.

In a tweet, Sandler noted that getting "no love from the Academy" was the bad news, but the good news? "Sandman can stop wearing suits," he wrote.

Actually, there's more good news. Sandler also congratulated his The Waterboy co-star Kathy Bates for receiving a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Richard Jewell. Bates thanked Sandler in a tweet back, echoing the thoughts of Uncut Gems fans everywhere by writing, "You was robbed!!"

In addition to clearing out his closet of suits, Sandler may be adding another item to his agenda, as the actor in December jokingly threatened he would make a movie "so bad on purpose just to make you all pay" if he didn't get nominated at the Oscars. Now that he's been shut out, the Grown Ups and Jack and Jill crossover the world has long feared is presumably already in the works. This is how we lose.
