Broadband price hikes
Vodafone has joined a growing list of service providers that have announced significant price rises for their broadband, mobile and landline customers, with TV subscriptions also set to become more expensive this spring. Are companies taking advantage of a higher than usual inflation rate, as customers face other hefty household bills?
Re-engaging with Syria
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus this week, the most high-level meeting of its kind between the two countries since Syria was thrown out of the Arab League in 2011. What’s behind Arab nations’ efforts to re-establish relations with al-Assad?
French football in crisis
The French soccer federation’s president Noël Le Graët resigned this week following allegations of “moral and sexual harassment”, and its expected that the national women’s team’s manager Corinne Diacre will soon quit her post too, reported The Times. The news comes after three of the team’s star players said they would not play at the World Cup this summer, with Captain Wendie Renard saying she could “no longer endorse the current system”.
