The White House on Monday filed a motion asking that a federal judge lift a preliminary injunction against President Obama's executive action to prioritize deportations of undocumented workers. In filing the request, the Justice Department asked U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen to stay the injunction pending appeal, arguing such a move is necessary to prevent Homeland Security from suffering "irreparable harm."

Last week, Hanen issued a preliminary injunction blocking Obama's immigration order, which would shield up to 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation. The injunction came after 26 states sued to keep the order from taking effect.
