McDonald’s is closing more restaurants in 2015 than it's opening, a first for the company since the 1970s. According to Becca Hary, a McDonald's spokeswoman, the reduction would be relatively "minimal."

The world's largest burger chain, McDonald's has around 14,300 U.S. locations. In December, the chain announced it would be trimming its menu and reviewing its cooking methods in an attempt to hold onto customers that were seeking fresher, healthier meals with competitors like Subway and Chipotle.
