Oscar-winning actor George Kennedy dies at 91

Actor George Kennedy, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Cool Hand Luke in 1968, died Sunday at the age of 91, his grandson posted on Facebook. Kennedy's health had reportedly been failing since his wife's death a year ago and he had been in hospice care for a month.

Kennedy is also known for his roles in The Dirty Dozen, the Airport movies, The Naked Gun, and the CBS drama Dallas. He took a brief hiatus from his entertainment career to serve in World War II and was in the U.S. Army for 16 years.
