Michael Moore believes Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) is "the exact way to go" in picking a new chair for the Democratic National Committee as the party seeks fresh direction forward in the wake of Hillary Clinton's unexpected defeat. Speaking with CNN's Jake Tapper Sunday, the progressive filmmaker argued Ellison represents the future of America.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) also gave Ellison his endorsement Sunday, calling the Minnesotan "a terrific leader and a strong progressive who knows how to get things done" in a statement to The Huffington Post. "Now is the time for new thinking and a fresh start at the DNC," Reid added. "Now is the time for Keith."
Previously endorsed for the role by progressive Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ellison said Sunday on ABC News' This Week he'll announce whether he intends to run "real soon." Who will fill the DNC chair position is a central fight in the Democratic Party's current civil war.
