There is “terror on our streets”, says The Mirror, after three people, including an 11-year-old girl, were injured in a dog attack in Birmingham. Home Secretary Suella Braverman says the American XL Bully is “a clear and lethal danger” and she is exploring a ban for the dog breed.
The i Paper reports that “hope” is growing that the Bank of England will limit future rises in interest rates. It says its “expert panel of economists” have predicted a “less aggressive approach” to tackling inflation, in a “small mercy” for mortgage holders.
The Daily Star predicts a “great British bunk off” as people take advantage of the hot weather following the unprecedented heatwave. The tabloid says “millions of staff are ditching work” today to enjoy “one last blast of the 28C heatwave” before temperatures fall for the autumn.
