Best-case scenario: Globe-Trotter and Alexander McQueen
Two British brands, both renowned for flawless craftsmanship, unite to create limited-edition luggage that's equal parts solid and stylish
Although Alexander McQueen may not be the first name that springs to mind when you think of luxury luggage, the design house's collaboration with Globe-Trotter could see it come out on top in the suitcase style stakes.
Comprising two pieces – a 13in mini utility case and a 21in trolley case – the collection cleverly incorporates signature details from the British fashion house's clothing lines that not only stand out on the luggage carousel, but also act as an additional security feature. The cases are decorated with silver studs and rivets that continue across the black leather strap, which wraps securely around the body of the suitcase. McQueen's unmistakable skull motif is subtly incorporated on the padlock and then playfully showcased on the interior with a bold repeat-pattern lining.
While the aesthetics benefit from Alexander McQueen's expertise, the construction is safe in the hands of specialist Globe-Trotter, whose luggage, hand-made in its Hertfordshire factory, has long been considered a benchmark for quality and durability. The two items are built from vulcanised fibreboard, which ensures their strength while remaining lightweight and practical.

Due to the nature of the cases' production, numbers are limited – there's just enough time to snap up this piece of modern British design before summer ends.
Utility case, £835, and trolley case, £1,965; available from Globe-Trotter's London boutique and select Alexander McQueen stores globally
