Best Halloween Brexit costumes on Twitter

Once content to be simply scary, Halloween costumes now come with a heavy dose of political satire that in 2016 meant Brexit.

The EU referendum result and its aftermath inspired dozens of bloodcurdling outfits over the weekend, with varying degrees of artistic merit.

While some people chose to focus on Britain post 23 June, donning EU flags and exit signs, others went even further, turning themselves into living representations of the Lisbon Treaty's Article 50 or the famous Vote Leave battle bus.

Oscar Williams-Grut, who chose the theme of falling currency for his costume, told The Tab: "To be honest, I stole the idea from an old colleague who did a joke tweet about going as the pound for Halloween when it was tanking earlier this month.

"The reaction was pretty positive to the costume, everyone thought it was pretty funny and I managed to avoid any unwanted awkward political chat."
