The UK’s recent wet weather is due to give way to a heat wave that will leave Britain hotter than Greece, according to forecasters.
Storm Ali and Storm Branagh have battered Brits over the past week, with “high winds, heavy rain, flooding and travel chaos up and down the country”, reports the Daily Mirror.
But temperatures are expected to go soaring back up in the South, Midlands and Wales from midweek onwards, with London expected to reach 21C on Thursday, says the Met Office.

A period of warm weather that follows the traditional summer period is often known as an “Indian summer”, although according to the Met Office blog, it may be a little too early in the year for that label right now. “An Indian summer is defined as a warm, calm spell of weather occurring after the first frost in autumn, especially in October and November,” the site says.
Nevertheless, the Met Office said there will be “a North/South split developing through the middle of the week”, with conditions “settled, dry and mostly sunny in the South”.
Forecasters are expecting that sunshine to continue across many parts of the UK into early October, The Daily Telegraph adds.
The mercury may begin to drop again come Friday, however. Daytime temperatures in London on Saturday are expected to be no higher than 16C.
