Why Cyrus is acting out

Miley Cyrus is determined to enjoy her newfound freedom.

Miley Cyrus is determined to enjoy her newfound freedom, said Derek Blasberg in Harper’s Bazaar. By the time her hit TV show, Hannah Montana, was into its final two seasons, the former Disney child star, 20, was burned out from five years of constant filming. “I had to have [the producers] put sun lamps inside because I was depressed from a lack of vitamin D,” she says. When the show wrapped in 2011, Cyrus moved out of her parents’ home and into her own party house—complete with a white Maserati in the garage and a skate ramp in the backyard. She freely admits she’s making up for her lost childhood. “I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid. So now I’m an adult and I’m acting like a kid.” Fame and money haven’t gone to her head, she says. “My parents always had money, so I didn’t have my mind blown or become obsessed with being famous.” Her recent antics—posing nude for a video or twerking at the MTV awards—are just her way of showing her independence. Cyrus quotes the advice she recently gave to fellow child star Justin Bieber: “I’m not saying you need to take a break because you’re crazy. I’m saying you need to take a break so you can be crazy.”
